You know what I just realized…
Marceline is a vampire so she has to stay out of the sun, right? That’s why she has to wear sun hats and umbrellas, right? Then in “Simon and Mary” she was able to be in the sunlight with no negative effects. Maybe she was not a vampire yet when the episode took place.
